House of Esmeralda was created from lived experience, deep compassion, and a heartfelt belief that no one should have to navigate life's journey alone.
Named in honour of my grandmother, Esmeralda, this space carries forward her kindness, quiet strength, and genuine care for others. Her spirit continues to inspire the way I show up for every person I meet.
My mission is simple: to walk alongside people through both life's everyday moments and its more difficult seasons.
Sometimes support looks like sharing a coffee, enjoying an ice cream on a warm afternoon, walking along the beach, visiting a garden centre, browsing a bookstore, attending a community event, or simply sitting together in comfortable silence. Other times, it means being there for medical appointments, offering respite to caregivers, or providing a calm, reassuring presence during life's most challenging transitions.
House of Esmeralda offers compassionate, non-medical companionship, respite care, accompaniment, emotional support, overnight support, Reiki, handcrafted intention bowls, and end-of-life companionship for children, adults, seniors, caregivers, and families.
As I continue to grow, so does House of Esmeralda. I am currently completing my End-of-Life Doula training while also studying Gerontology to deepen my understanding of aging, caregiving, dementia, grief, and how to better support individuals and families with dignity, compassion, and respect.
At home you'll usually find me with Kai, my loyal German Shepherd, and Mikey, my curious tuxedo cat. They remind me every day that healing often begins with something simple: feeling safe, cared for, and never truly alone.
House of Esmeralda is more than a service.
It's a place where people can slow down, breathe, feel supported, and simply be themselves.
With kindness,
Marlene

Every person has different needs, which is why every service is personalized with compassion, flexibility, and respect.
The Way I Work
Everything I offer is:
✔ compassionate
✔ non-clinical
✔ non-judgmental
✔ grounded
✔ fully confidential
If you’re unsure what kind of support you need, we can simply start with a conversation and go from there.
My work is rooted in presence, trust, and genuine human connection. I meet people where they are — without judgment, pressure, or expectation — creating a space where they can simply breathe, soften, and feel supported. I understand that life can feel heavy and overwhelming at times, and my role is not to fix or rush anyone but to walk beside them with compassion, steadiness, and care, especially when providing emotional support during difficult moments.
In the context of end-of-life care, I recognize that sometimes the most healing thing is simply knowing you don’t have to carry everything alone. My goal is to help life feel a little lighter, a little calmer, and a little less lonely, offering respite support to those who need it most.
My vision is to create a space where people feel safe enough to exhale — a space where they feel supported, understood, and truly seen, especially during the quieter, heavier, and more uncertain seasons of life.
Through companionship, respite support, and holistic emotional support, I hope to bring a little more softness, comfort, and connection into the lives of others. A space where there is no pressure to have all the answers, no need to explain everything perfectly, and no expectation to carry life’s weight alone, especially when facing challenges such as end-of-life care.
I want House of Esmeralda to feel less like a service… and more like a steady presence people can return to when they need grounding, warmth, understanding, or simply someone beside them.
Each situation is unique, and my availability is flexible based on your needs.
Reach out directly, and we can find a time that works best.
With Kindness,
Marlene
